Software Modernization Consultancy
A plan before anyone says "rewrite"
The system is old, slow to change and held together by two people. Everyone agrees something must be done. Nobody agrees what, and the last estimate for a rewrite frightened the board.
We come in at that point. We assess the system, find out what it really does, and produce a plan you can budget against, with the options ranked honestly.

Assessment
We read the code, talk to the people who maintain it and the people who depend on it, and map what it does, what it touches and where the risk is. This usually takes two to four weeks.
Options and a recommendation
Refactor in place, replace piece by piece, replace entirely, or leave it alone and fix the two worst problems. Each with cost, risk and duration. We say which one we would pick and why.
Guidance during the work
If you go ahead, with us or with your own team, we can stay involved: technology choices, design reviews, and keeping the migration from disrupting the business.
Proving the new one matches the old one
Running both systems on the same inputs and comparing outputs is the only test that counts for a replacement. We help set that up.
Getting your team comfortable
The new system is only a success if your people can change it without calling us. We train them on it and stay reachable afterwards.
Why people ask us
We have inherited systems too
Everyone on the team has taken over a system with no documentation and made it better. We know how to read one.
We look at the whole thing
The code, the data, the integrations, the people and the budget. A plan that ignores one of those fails on that one.
No favorite answer
We do not sell a platform, so we have no reason to recommend one. Sometimes the right answer is to keep the old system and fix three things.
A plan you can act on
Phases, costs, risks and what you can stop doing when each phase lands. Not a slide deck with the word "transformation" on it.
Start with the assessment
It is a fixed-price piece of work and the report is yours to keep, whoever does the modernization afterwards. Most clients find the assessment alone settles arguments that had been running for a year.
Write to us about the system. If you have already decided what to do and need a team, see our modernization services.
